1. Identify Your Yardstick for Success
What does success really mean to you? Ryan challenges us to clearly define it. Whether it’s financial, creative, or relational, own your yardstick. For me, my current measure of success is posting one Read By Ed video every week. Consistency is my metric. What’s yours?
2. It’s Okay to Give Credit
The biggest cost of giving credit is pride. Ryan talks about something called the “breadcrumb slide,” where he traces all the people who helped him get to a speaking engagement. It’s a reminder that no one truly makes it alone. Giving credit lifts others and keeps us grounded. I’m taking this lesson straight to LinkedIn to highlight people who’ve helped me grow.
3. Let Integrity Be Seen
Integrity isn’t just about what we do in private, but what we let others see. Ryan shares how he chose not to charge a homeless shelter for his time and made sure his team knew that decision. Why? Because he wanted them to hold him accountable if he ever lost sight of his values. Integrity should be visible, not hidden.
